Prior to your tan: (24 hours prior)

Exfoliate your skin 12-24 hours prior to your appointment to remove any dead skin cells ensuring an even tan application. If you exfoliate any sooner to your appointment, it can cause irritation to the skin. Exfoliate extra around rough areas such as knees and elbows.
No facials, nail services, hair appts., massage, etc. within 24 hours of your appointment.
Shave or wax any unwanted hair no later than 24 hours prior to your tan. If you shave/wax any closer to your appointment, it can cause the tanning solution to get caught in your hair follicles.
Shower with just warm water (no soap) to remove any dirt and oil the day of your appointment.
Don’t apply any perfumes, oils, lotions, deodorant, makeup, or skincare on the day of your appointment. This is very important to ensure the tan can adhere properly to your skin. We want your skin to be “thirsty” so the solution can soak in and develop properly. Applying lotion, oils, etc. will hydrate your skin or could cause a barrier from the solution, therefore causing an adverse effect. Some cosmetic products may also cause your tan to turn green as it develops.
Be sure to bring or wear long, loose fitting clothing such as sweatpants with a loose waistband, and a baggy sweatshirt or t-shirt. Wearing tight fitting clothing can cause the tan to rub off, leaving you with an uneven tan. Avoid jeans, leggings, a bra with tight straps, or anything tight fitting. Black attire is best as the tanning solution can stain. Wear shoes that won't make your feet sweat (flip-flops, sandals, crocs, etc.).

Immediately Post Tan: (0-12 hours)

Stay away from water at all costs. No washing dishes, or showering, try to avoid excessively scrubbing your hands, avoid rain and snow until after you rinse.
No swimming, hot tubs, or saunas until after you rinse.
No working out or sweating until after you rinse.
Avoid skin to skin contact. Be mindful of your resting position – keep your legs uncrossed, no touching your face (why we suggest long clothing).

A classic tan should be rinsed off within 8 to 12 hours after treatment.

A rapid tan should be rinsed off within 1 to 3 hours after treatment. The longer you leave it before rinse, the darker it will be. Please note, after you rinse, no color will appear until 24 hours after treatment.

You will see tanning solution run off in the water – this is normal and expected so don’t panic. Your tan is still untouched underneath. Your rinse shower should be quick – no longer than a minute. It is okay to use soap in your private areas and underarms but don’t scrub, shave, or wash your whole body. Towel pat dry, don’t rub.

Post Tan: (12 hours – 10 days after treatment)

It is important to moisturize with approved lotions at least twice a day. This will ensure your tan lasts up to its full expected duration. Your tan will fade as your dead skin cells shed. Avoid exfoliation as that will make your dead skin cells shed faster. Lotions that contain natural ingredients such as aloe vera, shea butter, or coconut butter are best recommended.
Avoid anything that will dehydrate your skin (swimming, sweating, and hot showers)
Always wear SPF, especially when you are in direct contact with the sun.

Common approved post tan lotions are: Norvell Tanning Prolong Lotion, Hempz Original Body Moisturizer, Aveeno Active Daily Moisturizing Lotion, and Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion.

Avoid lotions with oils, fragrance, dyes, alcohol, anti-aging products, and minerals.
